Giulio Mastromauro is an Italian director and screenwriter. He graduated very young in Law despite his strong passion for cinema. He founded with Virginia Gherardini Zen Movie, a production and distribution company. He wrote and directed several short films including "Inverno (Timo’s winter)" (2020), winner of the David di Donatello Award and nominated for the Nastri d'Argento Award. Selected in over 200 international festivals, the short film was eligible to run for the Oscar, entering the Longlist for the Live Action Short Film category. In 2021 he was awarded the Medal of Honor of the Académie des César (France), an award given every year by the Monnaie de Paris to the best emerging directors in the world. His latest work is the documentary feature film "Bangarang", focused on childhood in the suburbs of Taranto, an industrial city in Southern Italy which has the largest steel mill factory in Europe since the 1960s. He is currently working on his first feature film "Paradiso", an international co-production between Italy and Slovenia, produced by Dispàrte, Indaco Film and Vertigo. He is a voting member of the EFA European Film Academy and of the Accademia del Cinema Italiano - Premi David di Donatello.
