Elizabeth Rose is a Canadian-American filmmaker, born in Montréal who completed her MFA in Screenwriting and Directing at Columbia University in New York City in May 2017. While at Columbia, she was the recipient of the inaugural Alex Sichel Fellowship for a promising female filmmaker who reflects “Alex’s bold vision, acute intelligence and overall curiosity and vitality”. Rose is the co-chair of Columbia Women in Film, a student group that advocates for and empowers female filmmakers within the Columbia Film Program, and teaches Documentary Filmmaking to Columbia undergraduates. In 2014 she co-wrote and co-produced CHUM with Jörundur Ragnarsson, a short film in Iceland, which played at Clermont-Ferrand, and for which she won the Icelandic Academy award for best screenplay. The film was subsequently sold to Canal +. In 2015 she co-produced a short film in Spain, EL ADIOS, that was an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, was nominated for the Gaudi and the European Academy Awards and sold to HBO. She graduated from Harvard University in 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature.
