Mozart in Nairobi. Or something like that.

Carla Schwering

Carla Schwering was born in 1997 in Vienna, Austria. After her high-school degree she enrolled in theatre studies and art history (BA) at the LMU in Munich in 2016. With the completion of her Bachelor in 2019, she decided to do something more practical and artistic in relation to that art form and applied for the diploma course in stage and costume design, film and exhibition architecture at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. During her studies she did an internship at Burgtheater in Vienna in the costume department, assisted the freelance photographer Olaf Unverzart in Munich and completed an internship in the cultural sector at the Goethe Institute in Paris. At the university she worked on several own theatre and film projects having their final shows in and around Salzburg. Carla has always had an interest in photography and film, as they can be used independently as well as in the context of theatre. She is particularly fascinated by how the media can be used creatively: for example changing photos afterwards and intervening in them, like on stage or in a film set, where you transform the real space and consciously use the dream and fiction.
