Already in its seventh year, FFKB offers its guests various opportunities for and approaches to experiencing cinema. Apart from several cinema events, such as the Open Air Cinema on top of Kitzbuehler Horn, the Drive-In Cinema or the Cinema in the City , FFKB continues to set powerful contrasts within the broad spectrum of its program.
The festival has grown tremendously since its first edition in August of 2013. Each year, important figures of Austrian and German film come to visit the festival, among them actors like Mario Adorf, Ben Becker, Kai Wiesinger, Otto Schenk, Marie Bäumer, Sunnyi Melles and Tobias Moretti or producers and directors, such as Joseph Vilsmaier, Robert Dornhelm, Eberhard Junkersdorf and many more. Film Festival Kitzbuehel’s 6th edition, taking place from August 19 – 25, 2019 will follow in the same promising vein, offering an extensive and exciting program.
Above everything else, Film Festival Kitzbuehel is young, creative and versatile. Whether contemporary or traditional, oblique or evident, big or small, professionally realized or autonomously handcrafted, digital, Super 8 or 35mm – there are no limits set for the films. From regional to international cinema, newcomers to professionals, FFKB offers a platform for everyone, with a special focus on young directors in its competitive sections.
The goal of Film Festival Kitzbuehel is to discover the new and present the classics and to foster the exchange and network between filmmakers and film-lovers from Kitzbuehel, Austria as well as the entire world. FFKB’s Foundation was set up especially to support and promote young filmmakers. From its script lab (“Drehbuchklausur”) to the competition and the award ceremonies, from street food to parties, Film Festival Kitzbühel is diverse, versatile and extraordinary.
